Okay so today I woke up and headed out to the car so I could go and withdraw some money from the bank. To my dismay I realized that my car was on a flat. Before I could become engrossed in a fit of extreme rage, I decided to weigh my options in this situation.
What would I gain had I decided to get extremely angry, start hooting and hollering, snorting and growling and screaming?
NOTHING….
Absolutely nothing would have changed except for the fact of me being extremely angry. Yet I would still have been sitting on a flat tire unable to drive my car.
At first I felt that it would only be appropriate for me to go over and kick the flat tire and give the car a piece of my mind. Or maybe even call up the tire shop where I got my last set of tires and threaten to burn the shop down due to the inconvenience I was being caused.
Fortunately, you and I both have a choice as to how we will respond to things that take place in our lives on a daily basis. While I am not happy to have a flat tire it could have been worse…. I could have had four!
I believe that many times if people would only take a moment to breath and truly assess the situations that are in front of them that they could make much more responsible decisions and keep themselves out of trouble.
Obviously we can not change the inevitable, or that which is already done for that matter. All we can do is change the way that we respond to situations rather than reacting to them improperly.
