A bullion coin is usually purchased for investment purposes. It is strictly valued by the metal content of the coin itself. Numismatic coins are coins whose market values are determined by their rarity, condition, mint date and marks, not taking into consideration their precious metal content.
The Sheldon Scale
The sheldon scale is how coin graders determine the value of numismatic coins. The Sheldon Scale is a 70-point scale for grading coins, developed by Dr. William Sheldon in 1949.
The point scale goes from 1-70, 1 being the least valuable coins and 70 is the highest possible grade which means that it is in mint condition, that’s why it’s called an MS-70. Numis Network deals with mint state 70 coins!
