… Yeah I said you ain’t so what!
This is so much bigger than me and my grammatical errors. This is about you and realizing that if you aren’t failing that means that more than likely you aren’t doing very much of anything.
Human beings are so afraid of failing in life that many times it literally paralyzes them. People get stuck in their comfort zone when in reality they are actually uncomfortable there too. So in essence what you have is a catch-22, what really happens can come from a negative standpoint as well as a positive standpoint. Here’s what actually happens…
People get comfortable being uncomfortable!
So let’s talk about that for a minute. Let’s say that you know a guy named Larry, Larry has been working at McDonald’s as the fry cook for the last 3 years. Now while Larry is clearly uncomfortable with his current circumstances, he is more uncomfortable with the idea of having to look for a new job since he already knows the ins and outs of his coveted fry cook position.
Next up we have a lady named Tracy… Over the years Tracy has made some bad decisions, one of them would be her choice to become an exotic dancer at a local night club. While she hates the idea of showing strange men her body and being groped for a few hundred dollars a night, Tracy associates more pain with the thought of not being able to pay her way through school and take care of her 3 children. So once again, this person is comfortable being uncomfortable. If it were not so these two individuals would not hold on to their jobs for dear life right?
Now let’s try a more positive note. There’s a guy named Jason and he has just got involved in his own homebased business. Now Jason has never been involved in the home business industry so obviously he is apprehensive when it comes to prospecting new talent for his opportunity.
Now although Jason is extremely uncomfortable with the idea of approaching total strangers to ‘pitch’ them on his deal, all Jason can remember were the images of people having control over their time and financial freedom as a result of being involved in his company. So what does Jason end up doing? He goes out and gets his feet dirty, Jason goes out and talks to as many people as he can cross paths with on a daily basis.
So what did this get Jason in the long run? By facing his fears Jason realized that the only thing to fear is fear itself. He realized that even though he was uncomfortable talking to strangers that after doing so he still had a pulse! He was still alive! What’s even more important is that as time went on he actually started to like meeting new people.
So with that said, none of this would have ever taken place if Jason had not taken a leap of faith and gone out into the world and faced his fears. It all originated from Jason getting comfortable with being uncomfortable! (He also went on to become the top income earner in his entire company!)
It all starts with a dream… as you read this story you realized 3 different people with 3 separate lifestyles. Obviously all 3 of them had become comfortable with being uncomfortable. The question is are you letting that work for you like Jason or against you like Larry and Tracy?
