Craigslist Training – Everybody wants it. Nobody really gives it away, for free at least. There is some good training out there on Craigslist but what I’ve found is that even with all this training a lot of people are still doing it wrong.

Craigslist Training - How Do I Post On Craigslist?

The first thing that you want to do when you're trying to post ads on Craigslist is understand that Craigslist is not your ordinary beast. If you have a home based business, you're going to have to break a few of the rules in order to get the most of Craigslist; that's just the way it is.

So, the first thing to do is log into Craigslist and decide what section you're going to post in. You need to keep in mind that if you plan on posting in the jobs section you're going to have to pay $25 per ad. We'll get back to paid ads a little later.

Next thing you need to determine is the category you're going to post to. The most popular categories for people in the home business niche are the jobs, gigs, and small business sections. I personally would make the small biz section a last resort, but you're free to do as you please.

How To Post On Craigslist

I actually should have said this first, but before you even log on to Craigslist you're going to want to have your IP address changed. Now in the event you're posting ads to your primary account it's okay to go ahead and post. But if you're trying to post to multiple accounts, then you need to change your IP.

The easiest way to change your IP address is what a software called Hide My Ass. Hide My Ass actually has over 79,000 different IP addresses in different geographical areas throughout the world. You can choose to login to a new IP address in whatever cities or states that you want, as long as they're listed.

Now that we've changed our IP address let's talk about how to sell on Craigslist. 

How To Sell On Craigslist

The point of this Craigslist Training is to give you as much value as you'd find in any of the half assed Craigslist trainings out there online that people are charging $67 to $97 for. I know I could have easily sold the material I'm sharing with you here today, but sometimes it's okay to give back.

So now that you've changed your IP, you've chosen the appropriate category for your ad. You need to put your selling cap on. So what's the first step to selling your product or service on Craigslist? What is the first thing that your viewers are going to see?

Your Headline.

The point of your headline on Craigslist serves only one purpose; get them to click on your ad! If no one clicks on your ad then that's your first challenge. You need to work on your headlines. Years ago I bought a book on Amazon to help me with creating headlines called, "Advertising Headlines that Make You Rich". You can check it out here on Amazon.

Once you've worked on getting your headlines optimized the next thing that you want to then do is start planning your ad body. That way you don't have to worry about creating your own code and using Photobucket or other photo sharing sites. Just upload your photos and then copy and paste the code into Craigslist.

Even if you choose text only ads you can still ad them into the software and track those as well.

Craigslist Training - Image Ads Work Best

Remember, if you want to use clickable image ads on Craigslist the only place that you can post them is in the paid ads section. Remember the ones for $25 each?

Otherwise, you'll have to stick with text based ads. As far as text based ads go, in my humble opinion; less is more! So instead of writing out a long drawn out ad. Keep it simple.

And remember, if you're in the jobs section; please don't make your ad sound like a pitch to join a business opportunity. That's just dumb...

How To Post Multiple Ads On Craigslist

Okay so you want to go ballistic and post multiple ads on Craigslist. Maybe you want to post in multiple cities on Craigslist too. Well in order to do this, you're going to most definitely have Hide My Ass like we mentioned at the beginning of the article.

But that's just the beginning. Because if you've hidden your IP address from Craigslist you'll still need to verify your accounts with a phone number. Now, in the beginning you can always ask a few of your close friends or family members to send you the code that they get from Craigslist, but the best way to do it is to simply buy your own Phone Verified Accounts.

My go to place for PVA's is a website called PVASpot.

You can usually get PVA's for about $3.00 per number. It just depends on how long you want to use them. Most of the numbers are usually only active for 30 to 90 days.

So let's say for example that you buy 10 PVA's and activate 10 new Craigslist accounts. If you post 2 ads per day on each of those 10 accounts you're going to have more leads than you can barely even handle.

With 10 accounts if you were posting paid ads you'd have to hire someone help you call all of them back, because you would be completely overwhelmed with leads.

What Happens When They Click On My Ad?

Okay so you've got your accounts all set up, you changed your IP addresses, optimized your headlines; and now you're ads are posted. So what in the world happens after your prospects click on your ads?

Well this is extremely important, because once they click on your ad that's when the sales process really begins. So when they click on your ad, whether that be an image ad or a text based ad; where do you want them to go?

Obviously, you have a few choices. You can send them to a voicemail. Have them click a link to go to a website. Or simply have them reply to the Craigslist ad with their contact info.

QUICK NOTE --- NEVER REPLY BACK TO SOMEONE ON CRAIGSLIST ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY WITH A LINK TO YOUR WEBSITE UNLESS YOU HAVE THEIR "REAL" EMAIL ADDRESS. IF THEY WANT YOU TO REPLY BACK TO THEM THROUGH THE ANONYMOUS CRAIGSLIST EMAIL YOUR AD WILL END UP FLAGGED.

When You Send Them To A Website

If you choose to send them to a website, make sure that you're not sending them directly to a replicated capture page for your company. You also don't want to send them to a capture page that looks like a biz opp.

Here's what you do.

Either take Classified Ad Tracker or use your autoresponder like Aweber and create a custom form that looks like a generic job application. You don't want to go to the extreme of putting in that much work to get people to click on your ads only for them to see that you've sent them to a business opportunity.

Not to mention that's one of the quickest ways to get your accounts flagged -- exactly what you don't what.
