Hey Folks,
Today’s topic is about intelligence versus perseverance. Since I started marketing online and making a few dollars here and a few dollars there, I used to get frustrated because I’d see people on websites and videos who were anything but professional when it came to their presentation.
You know what I mean… people who are dressed like they just came from the gym, talking with the most broken English that you have ever heard in your life, and 5 misspellings per paragraph of their sales page or website!
The incredible thing that I noticed about these particular individuals was that they were all making more money than me! They’d be on YouTube showing checks and opening up envelopes stuffed with cash. Their Alexa ranking would be less than 500,000 while I was struggling to get under 10 million!
Unfortunately, many of us tend to judge other people exactly the same way. We seem to think that just because another person is not living up to ‘our’ standards or expectations, that they must not be intelligent, or that they are undeserving of being more successful than ourselves.
The definition of this attitude my friends is PREJUDICE… and regardless of how you look at it, even if another person is of your same ethnicity, if you’ve thought this way about other people in your life then you too have exercised a form of prejudice against another.
Now one day while I was evaluating my life, I stopped and thought about the fact that there were so many people online who seemed to be far less intelligent than myself, yet they were much more successful than I was.
That very moment reaffirmed me of something that I already knew. That was the fact that in business, sports, or any other aspect of life, the person who typically wins overall is the one with the most perseverance.
Right this minute there are millions of ‘intelligent’ people who are in their graves and in the prison system. While they were all ‘intelligent’, the sad truth is that they lacked the tenacity to utilize their strengths and go after a worthy goal in life. They chose to play it safe, to take the common route instead of the road less traveled.
The greatest athletes in the world in most cases did not get that way just by some ‘God Given Talent’. These people worked on their skills with a relentlessness that the average athlete was not willing to display.
So ultimately your intelligence will only take you so far if you are not willing to do the WORK that is absolutely going to be necessary to perform in order for you to accomplish you innermost desires!
So if you are in sports, affiliate marketing, network marketing, or any other field of endeavour…. always remember this: Your IQ may be high…. but how high is your desire to get things done? How high is your level of perseverance?
