If you’re involved or looking to get involved in Network Marketing there are certain “falsehoods” that you need to be aware of before you get started.

I believe that knowing some of these things in advance will help you make better decisions in the people you decide to work with, the companies you choose to involve yourself in, and your longevity in this business.

Ready to hear some of the lies that Network Marketers love to tell?

9-Lies-in-Network-Marketing

1. All You Need Is Friends And Family

When a network marketer is trying to get you into their organization a lot of times they will tell you a little bit of anything in order to get you into the business.

One of the most common misconceptions about network marketing is that you can build your business with only friends and family.

It is possible to build a large organization starting off only with your warm market, but here’s the truth of the matter. Your friends and family tend to be your worst enemies while you’re trying to get your business off the ground.

They’ll be there to tell you all the reasons why it won’t work. They’ll tell you you’re crazy for building a business like this. They’ll tell you how their friend Ted joined “one of those things” and lost all his money, etc.

At the end of the day just know – Your friends and family sometimes will be the biggest “dream snatchers” out there. So when your sponsor is telling you all you need are family and friends be prepared to expect the opposite.

It’s called Network Marketing for a reason. So plan to get good at networking and especially at marketing.

2. You’ll Get Tons of Spillover

Some network marketing compensation plans have the ability for you to earn ‘spillover’. Spillover is basically when someone above you enrolls a new person and then they place them under you.

So in some cases (very few of them) you will have people placed in your organization or they will ‘spill over’ into your group.

Just know this – you will still be responsible for hitting any necessary qualifications required by the company in order for you to earn on the people that have spilled over into your team.

Overall spillover is really nothing more than a scarcity tactic used by people who are desperate to get you on their team. If you’re banking on spillover to be your claim to fame in network marketing you will be very disappointed.

3. Work 20 to 60 Minutes Per Day

If somebody tells you that you can work 20 minutes a day and build a huge network marketing organization they’re lying!

I’ve heard leaders out there encourage team members to talk to at least 2 people per day. Maybe this will work for some, but from personal experience 2 people per day won’t do anything but leave you frustrated.

If you want to build your business big and do it fast you better anticipate on talking to more like 20 people per day. It’s not a secret that network marketing and sales alike are both a numbers game.

You must be willing to crunch the number if you want to see massive results. There’s no way around it.

4. I’ll Be There Whenever You Need 3 Way Calls

If you’ve ever done a network marketing business then I’m almost certain that this has happened to you. You get started, your enroller tells you how they love 3 way calls and how they’ll be there whenever you need them.

So you go out and start exposing your business and you finally have a few people interested. You call your sponsor to schedule the 3 way call and just as you feared – NO ANSWER.

Even worse, sometimes you’ll contact your enroller and actually have  a time scheduled for you to hop on a 3 way call so they can help close your prospect. You call your sponsor at 6 PM just like discussed with your prospect on the phone and sure enough – NO ANSWER.

The moral to this story?

Never ‘depend’ on your enroller for 3 way calls – or to close your sales. You must learn how to close the sale on your own. Waiting on your enroller for 3 ways is one of the most frustrating things you can do in network marketing and the reason why a lot of people quit before they see any results.

I’m all for following the system. If your team teaches a particular system where 3 way calls are a part of that system just be prepared in advance. Getting someone on the phone for a 3 way call is not always as easy as some make it sound.

5. Join And I’ll Show You What I’m Doing

This is more pertinent in online programs and internet marketing businesses but the same still holds true with network marketers.

Many times you may be attracted to enroll with someone who’s getting crazy good results doing something unorthodox like building their business on the internet.

You want to expand your skill set so you’re interested in joining so and so because they might be willing to teach what it is that they’re doing to get results.

One would only assume that since they have a ‘vested interest’ in you that they would be willing to teach you what it is that they are doing to get their results.

WRONG!

To this day I still don’t understand why someone who is guaranteed to get paid on your efforts would not be willing to teach you everything that they’re doing. Unfortunately, a lot of people will only teach you bits and pieces if any of what they ‘really’ do behind the scenes.

So be ready to do some investigative research and go out there and learn some new marketing strategies for yourself. Depending on your upline to teach them to you just because you joined their organization will leave you frustrated.

6. I Built My Team From Scratch

Some network marketing leaders love to lie and tell people that they built their organization from scratch when the truth is they’ve been bring the same people into each new opportunity they join for years.

A lot of people in network marketing think that by telling you they didn’t have any help building their organization they can persuade you into thinking it will be just as easy for you.

All the while they cross-recruited and brought hundreds, if not thousands of people from their old deal into the new program their promoting.

Again, all of this is done just to get you into their business.

7. It’s Easy

We sort of covered this already but just to reiterate I want to cover this one more time. Some people like to give the false impression that building a 6 or 7 figure network marketing business is easy.

LIES!

If it was easy everybody would be doing it. Also, if it were easy so many people wouldn’t quit their network marketing business 3 to 6 months after getting involved.

While I disagree that building a network marketing business is ‘easy’ I would say that IT IS SIMPLE. The entire basis of network marketing is finding customers and finding other people to help you find more customers.

So if you can focus on finding customers and finding customer getters you can do well. The question is can you handle all of the adversity that many of us face while pursuing your dream of network marketing success?

8.  I’ll Do All The Work For You

If anybody ever tells you just sign up and I’ll do all the work please run in the other direction. That’s just a ploy that super duper desperate people use to get you in their business.

Instead of waiting for someone to do all the work for you, why not just find a program that has a solid product that everyone already uses? Weight loss and all that stuff is cool, but people don’t really need it. But they need this!

9. Our Company Isn't Going Anywhere

This one is also very important. If you're approached to join a company and you find out that the company is not on the up and up I would encourage you to respectfully decline joining that business.

If you find out that the company is going through some type of trouble i.e. not paying people on time. Not paying people at all. Mailing shipments out late. Or anything similar to this. DO NOT JOIN.

Nobody with common sense would hop on a sinking ship unless they were ready for the worst.

I can think of a few companies right now that are struggling big time. I can't speak for anybody else, but if it were me I would feel guilty bringing people into a company that's not even paying their reps on time.

Because I like to believe that I have integrity I won't put that company on blast right now but if you're curious to know the particular company I'm referring to leave a message in the comments and I'll reply back.

So that's it for the 9 Lies Network Marketers Love To Tell.

If you've made it this far I'm pretty sure you won't fall for any of them. If you wanna take a look at a network marketing company that is solid and on the rise I encourage you to click here now or just click on the banner below.
