How To Never Sponsor A Rep In Your MLM Business Again

Here recently I’ve had a lot of people contacting me on Facebook wanting to talk to me trying to get me to join MLM. The secret is, I am already involved in an MLM Business. The difference between myself and many other MLM business owners is that I don’t spam my links and beg people on Facebook to join.

Just this week I had somebody contact me from a well-known MLM company that sells coffee. When I told them that I was not a fan of product based MLM’s they decided that this would be the appropriate time for them to go ahead and start to bash my company?!?!

This totally threw me off guard, mostly due to the fact that they were still trying to recruit me and didn’t even take into consideration what they had just said, and that they were officially NEVER going to recruit me.

It’s been on my mind how stupid this is for about 4 days now so I just had to make a video in order to prevent you guys from peforming these same kinds of stupid acts while trying to prospect people for your business.

MLM Recruiting

After being involved in Network Marketing for a little while now, I have grown very fond of MLM Recruiting, MLM training about recruiting, and using systems that will help me to recruit more people on auto-pilot.

To many people they get so caught up in having the “perfect” thing to say to their potential partners that they get all nervous and start acting weird about it, instead of simply conveying the message to their prospects that I have something that you need and it can fix (fill in the problem here).

However, before we even think about offering our business as a solution to their needs and wants we have to first be sure that the people that we are talking to are even interested in whatever it is that we have to share. This is why when it comes to MLM recruiting that it is imperative that we first qualify our people to find out if they have a geniune interest in changing their lives.

Many times we get it confused and believe that since we want to change our own lives for the better that everyone we know and love will also want to do the same – NOT!

Most people really don’t want anything… They may sell you on getting you to believe that they actually want something, but the truth is – Your actions speak twice as loud as your words! If you say you want to look like Arnold in his prime, but you will not even pick up a weight you are in for a rude awakening when you come to find that you still don’t look like Arnold.

So if you want to truly start qualifying your prospects effectively you need to simply ask them a qualifying question that takes their temperature as to if they are serious or not…

Here’s an Awesome MLM Recruiting Tip to use

Instead of sounding the salesman alarm every time you try to pique someone’s interest why not try simplifying the situation a bit?  Here’s what most people do:

Recruiter: “Hey Jim, I just got started in an amazing new business selling this incredible new weight loss product and I think you’d be awesome at it. What are you doing later this week on Thursday at 7:30?

Prospect Jim: “Ummm… I actually have to take little Johnny to his Nintendo Wii training course on Thursday. He’s trying out for the 72 hour non-stop video game playing marathon. Maybe I can make it some other time?”

From this point you’re dead in the water and you could have prevented this by keeping it simple. Here’s another example of what NOT to do:

Recruiter: “Hi Nancy, I couldn’t wait to call you. Have you ever heard of (place Network Marketing company here…)? Well we’re an international telecom company in 23 countries and we’re planning a global expansion soon. And Nancy look, I just met a guy who’s making 50 grand a month after only 2 weeks! You’ve got to check this out!!!”

Prospect Nancy: “Is this one of those pyramid things? I’m not interested, no thanks.”

If you’ll pay close attention you’ll notice that not one time did the person trying to get them into the business take the time to qualify them to see if they were looking.

3 words you need to remember if you want to become better at mlm recruiting are these…

Are you looking?

Here’s a list of different qualifying questions you could ask someone to see if they are even a candidate for your business.

1. Are you looking to make some extra money?
2. Are you looking for a way to pay off that school loan?
3. Are you looking for a way to get your kids out of daycare?
4. Are you looking to get some extra money for Christmas time?
5. Are you looking for a way to have more free time?

You get my point? These are simple questions where you should basically get a yes or no answer. The key here, is that you already know that the answer to virtually any one of these questions is yes.

Now here’s where it gets tricky… A lot of the people you ask these questions to are going to answer you with a question in return. For example, if you ask Jim if he’s looking to make some extra money, his response is likely to sound like this. “Doing what?” At this point you have to have a posture and not fall into the questions and answers trap.

Whoever is asking all the questions wins…period. If he asks you doing what you need to be in a position of power. You may respond something like this, “Jim, this may not be for you…(take it away) but I just found out how to make some extra money on the side without changing what we’re currently doing. Are you looking or not?”

If he says yes – Sweet… take him to the next step

If he says no – Sweet… ask him to be your customer and/or for referrals

It’s important to remember that this business is all about the numbers and he or she who goes through the most numbers will inevitably enroll the most distributors in their organizations.

So next time you’re doing your “mlm recruiting” remember that you don’t have to have some kind of fancy script. All you need to know is are you looking?

This is the question you need to ask someone when they call themselves rejecting or not wanting to get involved in you network marketing business.

“What do you have that’s better?”

It’s important that we remember that no matter how good your opportunity is and no matter even if Bill Gates himself has endorsed your business, that not everyone will want to get involved.

With that said, it would be an injustice to you if you did not ‘challenge’ them one last time by at least asking them the question…  “What do you have that’s better?“

You must understand that the second someone feels like you ‘need’ them to join your business they are officially turned off. You have to come from a position of power and let them know that you don’t care if they get involved in your business or not.

Another thing you need to get across to your prospects is that you can and will not listen to their opinion “UNTIL” they look. Even then their opinion will mean nothing, but you cannot even consider listening to their opinion until they have evaluated your website, DVD, CD, or attended a home meeting.

A lot of the people you will be talking to will be your peers and your co-workers. You have to challenge them whenever they attempt to belittle your network marketing opportunity by asking them, “Well what can you offer me that’s better?” or better yet, “What do you have to offer me that’s better than this piece of bleep job?”

You have to believe inside that you’re running a multi-million dollar enterprise long before you get there. It’s critical that you begin with the end in mind. Without this type of focus it will be easy to get knocked off balance and possibly even quit your business when people show any sign of ridicule for what it is that you’re doing.

Of course more people are going to say no to you than will say yes when it comes to joining your business. So that gives you an ample amount of time to get good at challenging these people and asking them; “What do you have that’s better?” And let us not forget that even if they do say no to always ask them…. “Who do you know that might be interested in something like this?”

It might be a long shot, but you’ll never know if you don’t try. For all you know that dud might just lead you to a stud!

Many people have the preconceived notion that a network marketing business opportunity is all about hard selling and convincing people to join your deal. That may be the case for an amateur network marketer, but a professional MLM recruiting expert will tell you that amateurs sell and professionals sort!

Understanding this is very key if you plan to excel in your network marketing company. You actually waste a lot more time when you are out convincing people to get involved. Now it is possible to get people involved with aggressive sales tactics and tons of convincing. The catch is that you’ll have to use those same tactics to get them to go to work.

Success in MLM is definitely a lot easier to achieve and a whole heck of a lot less stressful if you just focus on getting people to look at what you have to offer. If you get good and contacting and inviting people to your MLM opportunity you will find people who say yes.

The key is to become as skilled as you possibly can at the invite. Many people who look at the opportunity will not be able to see it. In that situation you want to make sure that you always ask for referrals, and you also want to get them as a customer.

Just remember that if you work on your skills of contacting and inviting that people will start to get involved with you. And as time goes on you will even start to get stronger at closing prospects too. You just have to remember that it’s all about the numbers and that no matter what you say or what you do…. You can lead a horse (prospect) to water (financial freedom), but you can’t make him drink!

Catchy little title there huh?

Yeah well if you’ve ever been in Network Marketing before then you already know what I mean. A quick explanation for those of you who may not quite understand what that means is this:

In Network Marketing your sponsor is the person who brings you into the business. Now that we’ve got that outta the way let’s talk about the differences between a good and a bad sponsor.

Several Traits Of A Good Sponsor

1. A good sponsor is not just a recruiter, recruiters are only in it for the numbers. (The law of large numbers will apply in all areas.) A good sponsor is more concerned with finding people who want to become leaders and doing everything they can to work with these people instead of leaving them to fend for themselves.
2. They introduce you, or get you connected with your upline leaders.
3. A good sponsor gets you immediately plugged in to any team training, (calls, webinars, team websites, etc.)
4. A good sponsor will roleplay with you to get you prepared for approaching prospects.
5. A good sponsor is always available when they have promised you they’d be.

These are just a few examples of a good sponsor. Obviously it can be a bit difficult to discern whether or not you have chosen a good sponsor when you join someone online. For that reason I highly suggest copying questions tips number 2-5 and writing them down. This way you can actually ask your potential upline leader (sponsor) if they actually provide these options for their new team members. If they cannot fulfill your obligations I’d keep looking until I found a more comfortable fit.

Now let’s talk about…

Several Traits Of Bad Sponsors

1. A bad sponsor might not even know that they are a bad sponsor. It’s their fault, but it’s not their fault. (Sort of)
2. A bad sponsor does not have a system in place for you. They just sign you up and tell you to talk to people…. not a very good system.
3. A bad sponsor never spends time with you to discuss your reason “WHY” you are doing the business. (Going over your dreams, and goals, what you really want out of being in the business.)
4. A bad sponsor tries to recruit you into different opportunities and sell you their products with “how to recruit unlimited reps” for $199. (Why should you have to pay your sponsor for recruiting secrets??? Is that crazy or what?)
5. A bad sponsor tells you that it is “EASY” to get to 10k per month in your MLM business opportunity!

My Final Thoughts

Obviously there are a lot of things that I didn’t mention when it comes to the quality of your sponsor. It’s funny because a good sponsor can absolutely propel you to success in your mlm business. However, this isn’t a perfect world and everyone may not have a good sponsor. You may also have a sponsor who is long distance and you are going to have a decision to make. Are you going to have a never say die attitude and make this thing work REGARDLESS OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES or are you going to just give up and quit?

The only failures in this world are those who quit. Maybe you should read the last sentence over again 5 times and say it out loud! While your sponsor is an important factor in your MLM business success, it is ultimately up to you and your ATTITUDE that will determine where you will end up in your business opportunity.

If you are DETERMINED to succeed in your business regardless of whether you have a babysitter…. (I meant sponsor) you are going to have to learn how to market. MLM Prospecting is probably the one thing that most people in network marketing fear the most. For that reason it is the one thing that anyone in MLM should be doing each day. Regardless of whether you have been networking for 2 days or 2 years, making that first call each day always seems to be the hardest one to make.

Just today I was looking back over my numbers (I use a tracking sheet when I make dials), while today I actually made 25 calls, only a few of them answered the phone. Out of the few who answered the phone only a couple actually committed to coming out for my “information night” (sounds better than home meeting) tomorrow evening.

Dealing with the rejection, deception, and emotional roller coaster of prospecting in MLM can at times be a tiresome task. Fear of failure is probably the number one reason why people refuse to make dials. My golden tip for you in regards to calling prospects for your MLM business to introduce them to your business would be this:

Make ONLY One Call A Day…

The reason for this is simple, if you just make one dial the next one is easier to make. If you decide that you don’t want to make anymore dials after the first one that’s your choice. The point here is that if you can commit to making just one call a day that’s the only agreement which you need to make with yourself.

In time you will recognize that the first call was not as hard as it seemed and that may just inspire you to make additional calls. Remember that network marketing is a people business, and if you aren’t talking to people then you aren’t in business and you aren’t making any money.

First off I just want to let you know that this is not a job opening… (That’s funny to me)

For those of you who are familiar… We’re going to give you a brief description of what it means to be a secret agent in MLM.

After you’ve read this if you want to get results just make sure these people know about your business:

1. Do your parents/siblings/cousins etc… know about your business?
2. Do your co-workers know about your business?
3. When you go to the grocery store do you talk to anyone about your business?
4. When you pay your bills do you put a business card in the envelope?
5. When you go to the mall do you leave drop cards
6. Do you have a window decal on your vehicle promoting your business?
7. Do you talk to people about your business on Facebook?
8. Have you given out any magazines or cd’s to promote your business?
9. Who do you spend money with? (Dry Cleaners, Doctors, Lawyers) Do they know about your business?
10. Why doesn’t anyone know about your business?

So ultimately being an MLM Secret Agent simply means that you are in business but are literally afraid to talk to people about it for fear of some negative response.

The true question is why did you join this industry????

I’m guessing you got involved so you could have more time, more freedom, more money, more vacations, more fine dining, more dates, or whatever. The most important thing to realize is that knowing exactly “why” you got involved will help motivate you on the days when you don’t want to do anything at all.

You have to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel if you intend to keep on moving forward. Without seeing the light at the end of the tunnel you will be afraid to keep taking steps forward because you won’t be able to see where it is you’re going.

So start focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel. Only YOU know why you decided to get involved in Network Marketing. Every journey begins with the first step. The only way you’ll ever realize the light at the end of the tunnel is to stop being a secret agent and start exposing people to your business and then collecting decisions.

Many people want to know if Prepaid Legal Services is a legitimate business opportunity or if it is among the many Network Marketing scams out there?

First off, prepaidlegal is a fantastic company and it offers anyone who is willing to get out there and “DO THE WORK” an opportunity to earn an extraordinary income, while at the same time giving people the chance to have more free time and earn an ongoing residual income.

However, before you commit to prepaidlegal services as a business decision, there are some things that you must know if you hope to make an educated business decision.

Prepaid Legal’s name is basically self-explanatory. They provide consumers the opportunity to have legal services that have been prepaid on a monthly basis. I like to consider it as if you have legal insurance.

So whenever an issue arises that you may require legal advice for, you can refer to your prepaidlegal membership and that will allow you to have a free consultation as well as representation on behalf of one of the many law firms that have partnered with Pre-Paid Legal.

Typically the fee for Prepaidlegal service is around $30 a month. However they do offer additonal services, the second most popular would be the identity theft sheild they provide. (That comes at an additonal fee.)

One important thing you should know…

If you have a case pending and you attempt to purchase prepaid legal services to handle your case it won’t work. Prepaid will only assist you with cases that were brought against your during the duration of your membership with them, not prior to.

When it comes to basic issues such as reviewing a contract, or writing up a will, Pre-Paid Legal is a good service to have. I guess the question is how often are you going to need contracts reviewed or wills written? Regardless, going through a typical attorney to have documents reviewed or having wills written could cost a substantial amount more than it would with Pre-Paid Legal service.

One more important thing you should know…

The large majority of criminal cases are not covered by prepaidlegal. So if you were to get charged for some type of criminal activity then you’d be left to come out of pocket and pay some big bucks.

Prepaid Legal is awesome for anyone who may be seeking advice or assistance with mundane situations. Although if you are looking for specified legal assistance then they may not be appropriate for your situation.

About the Prepaid Legal Opportunity….

Outside of earning a commission from the prepaidlegal memberships that PPL reps sell, you can also earn commissions and bonuses by recruiting other people to use and also sell the memberships and services. It’s set up in the typical pyramid fashion of most MLM’s. (Before you get your feathers ruffled draw out the structure of your job! That’s a pyramid too, one where you will never be the boss I might add…)

Pre-Paid Legal is over 30 years old and they have well over a million active distributors in their organization, so that should give you enough confidence to be sure that it is in no way a scam.

So as I mentioned in the first sentence, people want to know if Pre-Paid Legal Services is a legitimate business. The answer is absolutely yes. Although… you may occasionally have to deal with the distributor who tries to get you in the business and they promise you that you’ll be making 500K per year in your first year by working only 1 hour per day!

People like that are the true scams in this industry, not the opportunities. That’s why they”re are called business opportunities… not business guarantees!
There’s a common problem with most distributors in Prepaid Legal and that problem is this:

They are still building the business the same way people built it back in the 80′s! You know what I mean, the home meetings, hotel meetings, talking to every person you see in the mall, putting flyers on windshields, etc…

Now don’t get me wrong, those methods still work even today… but they are without a doubt OLD SCHOOL! There’s a new sheriff in town when it comes to Network Marketing and that sheriff is named THE INTERNET!

To be a top income earner in Network Marketing, especially in Pre-Paid Legal, you have to become the leader that other people are looking for. That’s why it doesn’t matter what company the top MLM leaders go to. People flock to them to join THEM in the business more than they do the OPPORTUNITY itself!

The true secret to MLM success is not simply becoming a leader, but also learning HOW to market. If you can brand yourself as a leader and also become effective at marketing your business online, you will no doubt reach the top of your companies pay plan no matter if it is Pre-Paid Legal Services or any other Network Marketing Company out there!

MLM Prospecting Skills Are Learned Not Inherited

MLM Prospecting is a skill that everyone must have if you plan to be successful and reach the top of the comp plan in your Network Marketing Company. Becoming a dominant MLM Prospector is a skill that is learned over time. Many people say that they are “natural born salesman or saleswomen”, this is simply not the truth.

While I would agree that some people pick up the art of being a good prospector/recruiter/salesperson quicker than others, nobody is born as a “natural” leader when it comes to being successful at MLM Prospecting. We’re going to go over 5 things that you should know and do if you want to become dominant at MLM Prospecting.

1. Always be prospecting – This may seem like a simple task but very few people actually do it! Many of the top MLM recruiters and leaders will tell you that if you plan to make it big in this business, you should be spending 80% of your time in prospecting mode. If you do not have people to talk to in Network Marketing then you are not in business, so keep that in mind if you desire to be successful in your business. If you haven’t anyone to talk to your business is literally dead.

2. Knowing what to say – This is a skill set all on it’s own. If you don’t know what to say to people then you will be afraid to approach people about your business. This alone is one of the most critical factors that will ultimately lead to your demise or your success as an MLM Recruiter. MLM Prospecting is all about knowing what to say to your prospects to get them to look at your business. If you are uncomfortable talking to people about your business it is probably because you have not developed the proper skills necessary to feel confident when approaching potential business partners.

A simple way to see if a person might be interested in your opportunity is to be straight forward with them. You might try by asking someone this, “Do you keep your business options open?” or “Are you open to earning an income outside of what you’re currently doing?” Questions like this will allow you to take their temperature and see if they have a desire for what you have to offer. (What you have to offer is freedom, time with family, more money, etc. Sell them that!)

3. Recruiting up – If you want to make the most of your time I’d have to that in MLM Prospecting you always want to recruit up. This simply means that if you want to recruit someone would you rather recruit the man or woman who has no friends, no influence with other people, and works at Wendy’s? Of course you wouldn’t, you’d want to get out there and recruit people who already understand business. You’d want to go after entrepreneurs, people who own businesses and have a network of people to talk to. You’d also want to go after people who do prospecting for a living. These would be people like real estate agents, insurance agents, salespeople, and anyone else who may get paid on a commission basis.

4. Stay consistent – Consistency is key when it comes to being successful at virtually anything that you do in life. The people who stick to it when they get started on things will always have the most success. It’s important to understand that we are always consistent. You’re either consistent at being inconsistent, or you’re consistent at getting things done.

5. Learn to embrace the no’s – In a perfect world everyone would be interested in your business and everyone would say yes, however this isn’t a perfect world! More importantly, if it were that easy then Network Marketing would not be lucrative at all. It would be no different than working a regular job like Wendy’s or Burger King. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against people who work in fast food restaurants. I know that everybody has to start somewhere, and besides… who would make my frosties for dessert or my croissanwiches for breakfast?

Seriously though, people telling you no is just a part of the business. You have to learn how to actually go for no. I’m sure you’ve heard it said before that every no gets you closer to a yes. Emotionally we take it offensively to be told know when we are trying to share an opportunity with people that can change their lives for the better. We simply must remember that they are not saying know to us, they just can’t “see” the opportunity. Also many times it’s just not a good time for people. If someone that you attempted to persuade through your MLM Prospecting skills still isn’t interested just file them away and try them again when you hit the top level of the company and mail them a postcard of your vacation in Cancun.
