Any lead generation strategy begins with a lead capture page. I actually just wrote an article about how to create your own capture pages that you can check out later.

But first, let’s go ahead and break down the lead generation process.

Lead Generation Strategies

How The Lead Generation Process Works Online

Your main objective with online lead generation is to get the opt in.

In order for you to get an opt in you’ll first need to have a lead capture page. A lot of people think you have to have the fanciest capture pages to get the most opt ins and that’s just not true.

Look how simple this page looks:)

In fact, some of my best converting capture pages are the simplest pages I have. No graphics, no women in bikinis, and no sports cars – just a strong message and an opt in form.

Autoresponder Software – How to Keep in Touch With Your Leads

To build a contact list you’ll also need to have an autoresponder.

The best autoresponder service to use is the one that works best for your budget and your own individual needs.

However, many people would say that Aweber is the best autoresponder service out there for newbie marketers looking to build their mailing list.

Once you have your mailing list and your capture page connected let’s talk about

The Main Objective

Again, the main objective of a successful lead generation campaign is to get the opt in.

The easiest way to get the opt in is by having a solid lead magnet. A lead magnet is simply whatever “bribe” it is that you give away in exchange for someone’s contact information on your website.

Another major key in collecting the opt in is asking for as little information as possible.

For example, if you ask for first name, last name, phone number and mailing address you won’t get as many leads as you would if all you required were a simple email address.

Makes sense, right?

The Autoresponder Sequence

After you’ve collected the name/email, etc. This will now trigger the autoresponder sequence (if you have one set up).

Now that lead will receive a “drip feed” of emails sent out to them on the schedule that you’ve predetermined. This could be once a day, once a week, or once a month. This really depends on how often you want to contact your list.

Sometimes when someone is first getting started with internet marketing they may struggle writing their own autoresponder sequence. In this case, you could hire someone to write one for you. Or in other cases you can even borrow one from someone else. Most autoresponder services have a share feature that let you share your autoresponder sequences with whomever you choose.

Nothing Happens Without A Traffic Source

All of this is great, but until you have a traffic source (i.e. eyeballs on your website) don’t expect to generate many leads (or sales).

Where Can I Find Traffic For My Website?

This is actually the easy part of internet marketing.

Although, you want to do it the proper way. You definitely don’t want to go about spamming your website all over the web – people will hate you for it. 🙁

Finding traffic for your website is simple though. You could start with these sites for starters:

  • Twitter
  • Email Lists
  • Facebook
  • Postcards
  • Voice Drops
  • Banner Ads

These are just a couple of ideas for starters. But there are people everywhere – looking for exactly what you have.

Another thing that internet marketers fail to take advantage of is offline marketing. Just because you have a website doesn’t mean that all of your lead generation has to come from the web.

Remember many years ago when people used to read this thing called the newspaper?

Well, it still works.

So do magazines.

So do flyers, business cards, and word of mouth.

Don’t limit yourself when it comes to your marketing. Many times all it takes is a bit of outside the box thinking to see an increase in the traffic to your site.

Nurturing Your Leads and C.T.R

After you’ve captured the lead that’s really just the beginning.

Just because you generated a lead thru your website doesn’t meant that they will buy anything from you.

This is the point where it’s time for you to develop K.L.T.

What’s KLT?

  • Know
  • Like
  • Trust

This is the formula for getting people to buy your stuff.

Get them to feel like they know you. Give them a reason to like you and they will start to trust you.

Only then will they even consider pulling out their wallet. Always remember that!

You want to focus on C.T.R after getting the lead – Continue The Relationship.

This is the foundation for a successful lead generation campaign.

If you’re anything like me you’re probably more of a visual learner. So I put together this video for you to see the process on paper. I hope this helps you further understand the lead generation process.
