Regardless of whether you are an online marketer, salesman, or you work a regular job. There is always a good time to duplicate the success of other people and then there’s also a time for you to be original.

In many professions there will always be someone in your chosen field who has blazed a trail and left an example that can and should be followed by anyone who wants to reach the same level of success. However… there is a such thing as trying too hard to be like someone else. I hope by the end of this blog post you will have a better understanding of what I mean.

Okay… so in the game of internet marketing there are tons of “gurus” out there who have earned a significant amount of money online. If you are like me, I’m sure that you’re goal is to duplicate, if not surpass what the gurus have done in your business or field of interest.

Now there are two ways you can go about it. You can find out what they did to get where they are, and you can also try and do EVERYTHING they do by trying to be someone that you are not! Obviously you want to be original, but you do not want to go so far as stealing every single thing that these people say and do.

Don’t get me wrong here, I mean there are lots of people online that I look up to and admire and I may from time to time “swipe” a few ideas here and there. Thing is, what I don’t do is try to talk and make my voice sound like theirs, dress like they dress, and copy every single thing they write on their blogs.

By no means am I advising you to not take note of and implement the things that your favorite role models are doing that actually work! My point is that you should not take it so far that when someone hears you speak for example that they might say, “he’s trying too hard to sound like so and so.”

People will come to know, like, and trust you because you are different and unique. Not because you are some carbon copy of Frank Kern, Eben Pagan, or Brig Hart.

Hopefully you all follow what I’m saying here. If you are a follower of internet marketing I’m sure you’ve seen videos of people who try so hard to be like somebody else that you’ve seen on a video that you wonder if this person is even wearing the same size underwear even though they don’t fit!

For example, here on my blog… I got some of my ideas for my blog design from a top internet marketer and I emulated what I liked about their blog and put my own twist on the rest. Another example is that of my business partner Cedrick Harris, Cedrick has a knack for using catchy little phrases that stick in your mind and from time to time I may “swipe” a saying or two because I understand it’s effectivenesss, NOT because I want to be Cedrick Harris because I’m Rhandell Mitchell and I like myself.

Therefore, one of the keys to being confident and attractive to others is having confidence. In order to exude confidence you have to like yourself for who you are. If you are too far gone in trying to be someone else you are actually cheating yourself and everyone else of what you have to offer, showing your own brand of uniqueness, and alienating people from connecting with you who would’ve if only they’d seen your true personality.

So in closing…. To sum it up best I guess what I’m trying to say in a nutshell is simply this:

If you find something that someone else has done to be successful and you can do the same thing do it! Just don’t lose the essence of who you truly are as an individual by stealing their stem cells and becoming their clone! People will respect you a whole lot more for being yourself!

Until next time…

Stay Blessed!
